A short clip from Medicus Rex, shot in Oakland, CA in the year 2000 starring the inimitable Joshua Allen. He’d moved out of state, but he was back in CA for a bit. Josh is one of my favorite in-house superstars so I had to shoot a quickie tour-de-force for his screen skills while he was in town. We came up with a story about twins. One was a malpracticing doctor, the other was a malcontent. One of the doc’s victims injects him with a flesh eating virus. The doc decides to make peace with his brother, Brock. He invites his bro over, wearing a mask to hide his falling apart face and all the old familiar sores and wounds reopen. The doc also has numerous conversations with God throughout the picture. It has a signature Bobbywood apocalyptic ending (courtesy a mind blowing pioneering no-fi CGI effect by Kurt Stumbaugh) and plenty of over the top scenery chewing by the incomparable Joshua Allen.
